Communication Design Question 1.0

November 5, 2013 § Leave a comment

The digitalisation of the book ushered a new era for a medium, that is engrained in our history. A remarkable change that has only just begun, but already worries many people. However, this shift has put forth a renewed interest in the role of the printed book and could possibly reveal a new function for it.

This new purpose is what I want to investigate and experiment with. Analyzing the significance of the form of a book, and how it contributes to its invaluable content and constitutes an important appliance on its own lies at the heart of my project.
‘Why is it still important to produce printed books and how can modern society benefit from their three-dimensional form?’ will be one of the core questions to be explored.
