Changing the things I can

When you only have a hammer every problem looks like a nail to you. Well I don’t, at least I laid it off, figuring I can do much more with my own hands.

This is a new freelance project I am working on at the moment, an identity of a modern, independet hostel / holiday flat in Innsbruck which builds up on Innsbruck’s old street signage. Follow up soon for more details.

I now can add two more letters to my name, what an achievement. But our final degree show, designed in a team of five (Shesley Crustna, Chi Nguyen, Timothy Klofski, Anton Stepine and me), was a success in the end. Some of our work also got featured by Sarah Kante who to look at the degree show for Central Saint Martin’s Digital Present blog.

Paper

With this experiment I tried to explore the expressiveness of paper, using already existing origami templates in a bigger scale. By releasing single pages from their books and folding them into appealing and interactive objects, a new narrative is generated. Two quotes from Italo Calvino’s If on a Winters Night a Traveler built the inspirational fundament for this work.
This project also refers to the power of imagination, and points out that sometimes not more than a few words or pages are needed to allow it full bend.

At the front and back of this description you can find Calvino’s quotes, made into two typographic posters for the Work in
Progress Show at Central Saint Martins in November 2012.
